Vale Street Program aims to provide a safe, friendly and accepting place for people in the Blue Mountains community to improve and develop their social and living skills through access to a range of structured 'Short Course' programs and groups, informal facilitated drop-in, and accessible, informal activities known as the 'Safe Space' program.
The Vale St. Centre is a social and recreational service for people living with or recovering from mental health issues. We provide a range of activities including yoga & meditation, art & craft, creative writing and living skills (cooking, budgeting, gardening, communication skills). We have free broadband internet computers, pool/air hockey table, and a library/quiet space. We also have a washing machine & dryer, shower and cooking facilities available by appointment.
A low-cost lunch is available on Wednesdays - it’s advisable to book in before 11:30 am so you don’t miss out!
The Vale St. Centre is run by paid staff and participants, and people are encouraged to share their skills and experience with other participants. We operate using a recovery focus enabling people to develop their abilities around self-determination and responsibility and accordingly we encourage clients to participate in activities, engage with others, develop their life skills and awareness their abilities and strengths. It is well accepted that social inclusion supports health management and our safe space and planned short courses provide opportunities for engagement with other community members living with or recovering from mental illness, as well as the broader community.
The Centre is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. A free bus service is available to pick up and drop off between Blackheath and Wentworth Falls. Please call us to arrange.
